Putin agreed to meet Zelensky within two weeks, German chancellor says

Update: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz told reporters that Putin agreed to meet with Zelensky within the next two weeks during his phone call with Trump.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he had begun preparations for a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He made the announcement on his Truth Social platform following a day of talks in Washington with Zelensky and a group of European leaders.

“At the conclusion of the meetings, I called President Putin, and began the arrangements for a meeting, at a location to be determined, between President Putin and President Zelenskyy,” he wrote. “After that meeting takes place, we will have a Trilat, which would be the two Presidents, plus myself.”

Earlier, multiple media outlets reported that Trump had called Putin not after his meetings with Zelensky and the European leaders, but in the middle of them.
