Early Monday, Russian drones struck a five-story apartment building in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, according to Governor Oleh Syniehubov. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that at least seven people were killed in the attack.
Apartments on the first, third, and fifth floors caught fire, and parts of the building’s interior structure collapsed.
As of 8:45 a.m. local time, four people had been confirmed dead, including a 16-year-old boy and an 18-month-old child. Several residents remain unaccounted for and may be trapped under the rubble, Syniehubov said.
By 11:24 a.m., Terekhov said the death toll had risen to seven. Syniehubov said that at least 30 people had been injured in strikes across the city, which involved both drones and an Iskander-M missile. He added that 19 apartment buildings and 25 vehicles in the city had been damaged.
