Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will not participate in the Russian–Ukrainian negotiations scheduled for Thursday, May 15, in Istanbul, the newspaper Kommersant reported, without disclosing its source or providing further details. It remains unclear who will represent Russia at the talks in Istanbul.
At a briefing on May 14, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin was not yet ready to name the members of its delegation and was still awaiting instructions from President Putin.
On Tuesday, May 13, sources told The Washington Post and Agentstvo that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and presidential aide Yuri Ushakov would represent Russia at Thursday’s negotiations in Istanbul.
