Representatives of the Russian-backed annexation administration of Kherson region announced the end of the “organized evacuation” from the right bank of the Dnipro River, where Kherson is located.

“On November 7, 2022, the last ship that could take people who are ready to move to the left bank left the city of Kherson from the right bank of the Kherson region today. We closed the road from the left bank to the right bank today and we do not recommend returning to the city,” said deputy head of the annexation administration, Kirill Stremousov, in a video published on his Telegram channel.

Authorities in the annexed part of the Kherson region announced an “evacuation” in mid-October. One of the reasons cited by the Russian-appointed authorities of the region was the danger posed to the Kakhovka HPP dam “as a result of rocket fire by the AFU.” Ukrainian authorities said that Russian troops might blow up the Kakhovska HPP dam to cause flooding, in order to stop a counterattack by the AFU.

There is speculation in the media that Russian troops might surrender Kherson. However, the Ukrainian authorities believe that it could be a diversionary maneuver, and that troops will not really leave the city.
