Yekaterinburg building evacuated due to bomb threat during LGBTQ roundtable

The Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg was evacuated on April 25 due to a bomb threat, Znak.com reported. The threat reached the building a few minutes after a roundtable on LGBTQ issues had begun inside it as part of a long-term project called Bye-Bye, Stigma!

The project’s discussions, which have been held regularly in the Yeltsin Center since September, cover topics like cancer, HIV, and volunteer opportunities. Entrance is strictly restricted to individuals over 18 years old in accordance with Russia’s “gay propaganda” law. However, the roundtables have been targeted by the Ural Parents’ Committee, the Council of Fathers, and the Sorok Sorokov movement, YTV reported. Protesters picketed outside the Yeltsin Center in advance of the event.
