Members of the Russian art group “Re:vansh” projected an advertisement promoting voting in favor of the amendments to the constitution on the building of the American Embassy in Moscow on the evening of June 29.

The video initially shows the Russian constitution, along with a picture of former U.S. president Bill Clinton with his arm around former Russian president Boris Yeltsin, and the caption “1993. It was yours.” It then cuts to a photo of a group of Russian citizens who support amending the constitution, with the caption “2020. It will be ours!” The video ends with a reminder about the final day of voting and the slogan “Vote or lose. Vote to win.”

“In 1993, tanks from the Taman division drew a picture on the facade of the [Russian White House] from fire and soot,” the statement from the Re:vansh art group says. “In 2020, our projectors used the building of the American Embassy as a canvas, on which a completely different kind of painting was born. A painting making it clear that the American ‘tabs’ in the Russian Constitution from the nineties are coming to an end. Russia is no longer a crypto-colony!”

Previously, in December 2019, portraits of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin were projected on the facades of several buildings in Moscow, with the caption “I’ll be back.” The action took place on the eve of Stalin’s birthday. Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) leader Gennady Zyuganov endorsed the action, and even called it “an inviative of both the people and the party, and the entire block of popular-patriotic force,” with the help of which the “truth of history” was restored.
